The idea behind the use of the color blue is simple – blue is for boys – so it’s time to Get BLUE America!
Blue September is a campaign created to get the message out about prostate cancer in men. It aims to raise awareness among all Americans about this devastating male cancer and urges men to take preventative action by improving lifestyle choices and getting a regular check with their GP.
In 2011, more than 33,000 men will die from prostate cancer
One new prostate cancer case occurs every 2.2 minutes
So let’s face up to prostate cancer this September! Show your support by painting your face blue and raise awareness and funds to save lives!
Get Blue and get involved!
During September 2011 if people paint their face blue, donate money to The Prostate Cancer Foundation, or help raise awareness, they will be directly helping to lower the death rate and reduce the suffering from the disease. This is because the more men and their families that Blue September™ can reach with its message will result in more men taking a pro-active stance to their health and identi fying the disease while it is treatable thus reducing the number of men likely to suffer or die from prostate cancer.
Blue September was a concept first developed for New Zealand in 2008. In its second year the campaign was expanded into Australia, primarily as an awareness initiative. In 2010, Blue September has developed into an international awareness and fundraising initiative, and now in 2011 is set to take the USA by storm, proudly supporting the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
